The maze is an integral part of Georgia Tech’s Earth Day Celebration, with more than a thousand people passing through the maze during the five-hour event. While the location and configurations have changed over the years, the purpose remains the same: to encourage people to think about how their choices impact the environment and make changes in their daily lives to live more sustainably.
The 2013 Earth Day Celebration featured a 'deconstructed' maze. Four maze stations were distributed throughout the event. Participants could collect a stamp at each of the stations, then trade them for a 2013 Earth Day T-shirt.
