Georgia Tech is committed to being a leader in developing and implementing sustainability programs. As part of that commitment the Office of Solid Waste Management & Recycling hosted the 'Shoot the Shoes' athletic shoe drive during Earth Day 2008. Approximately 300 pairs of sneakers were recycled this year.

Imagine a sustainability program where once a product's life cycle is complete, it is collected, disassembled and used to make an entirely different product. Can it be done with your old athletic shoes? YES!

GET YOUR OLD SHOES BACK IN THE GAME - Want to reward your worn out sneaks for a job well done? Then recycle them with the Nike Reuse-A-Shoe program. They'll get ground up and used to make a brand new athletic surface like a soccer field, basketball court or running track.

So, clean out your dorm room, your closet and your gym bag. It's a great way to help get your old shoes back in the game. Any brand of athletic shoes will be accepted (No metal: eyelets, spikes, cleats).

Don't hang on to your shoes just visit Nike to find a drop location near you.
